Intrusec was founded in January 2002 on the principle that rapidly changing networks need to be monitored—proactively and continuously—to find changes and new vulnerabilities as they appear.

This profound realization surfaced as traditional tools like firewalls, intrusion detection/protection and anti-virus solutions became the primary instruments of network security infrastructure. Additionally, libraries of known vulnerabilities have grown so large—and the testing so intense—it is not feasible to run them continuously. As a result, there is a critical lack of viable solutions for proactive, real-time change detection and vulnerability assessment that makes those existing infrastructure aware of new vulnerabilities.

To compound the predicament, a security professional's job is made more difficult by the mounting complexities of today's networks. New devices, applications and services are added every day, but, despite harsh warnings, employees install unauthorized software regularly.

Introducing Intrusec

Intrusec believes that network security starts with an understanding of the composition of the network and how it changes over time. Securing a static network would be easy, but no network is static. Networks are dynamic by their very nature, and all new security problems originate in the changes to the network.

It is only through understanding the network that real progress can be made in securing the network.
